Divine Beast Vah Ruta

Make sure the Divine Beast Vah Ruta quest is selected in the Adventure Log. Now exit the Throne Room in Zora’s Domain and head towards the marker on the Sheikah Slate. This will be down near the Princess Mipha statue. Speak with Sidon here for some dialog and a cutscene.

Now equip the Zora Armor and speak with Muzu. After another dialog, head back to the second floor of Zora’s Domain and make you way east over to Mikau Lake on the map. Head towards the waterfall and swim upward. Do this one more time to reach Lulu Lake on the map.

Swim up the waterfall at Lulu Lake as well. Once at the top, continue up the mountain by foot. You will soon come to a sign that reads, “<- Shatterback Point this way.” Continue following the trail pass it and picking up all the Shock Arrows you can find.

Once you reach the top of the mountain, a brief cutscene will happen and you will be in the middle of a fight. The Lynel is a really strong foe. You will need to make sure to doge the Lynel’s attacks and counter them. The fight will be hard to win otherwise.

It is easiest to doge them when you are close by and the Lynel is swinging his sword at you. The Lynel has a few different moves: 3 sword swings in a row, running sword swing, fireballs, shock arrows, and various others. Doge as many attacks as possible and heal up between attacks you do not doge.

The key is to stay at max health – pending you have at least 4 hearts to start with – and to have a shield equipped at all times. Once defeat, the Lynel will drop several different items. Pick them all up and head around the area picking up any remaining shock arrows you may need.

Once you have 20 shock arrows, you will be able to head to next goal of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta quest. Head towards the new marker, which will be to the southwest. Simply climb to the top of the mountain to reach Shatterback Point. Turn to the west and slight south to face directly at the marker.

Jump off of the cliff and glide over to the marker. You will need to free fall once over the marker and be sure to use the paraglider before you hit the dock to keep from dying. Speak with Sidon for a cutscene and dialog.

Divine Beast Vah Ruta

After the dialog, you will be in a battle with the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. You will need to shoot the ice it throws at you with an arrow to knock it down. After doing this several times, Sidon will take you to the waterfall. Press A to swim up it and shoot a shock arrow at the pink orb.

Repeat this entire process several times to soothe the beast. You will now be taken into another cutscene and end up on the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Head inside and kill the creatures here. The eyeball creatures can easily be taken out with an arrow.

Raise an ice pillar beneath the bars blocking the Guidance Stone Pedestal to raise them high enough to go under. Head inside and examine the pedestal to get the map of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Head out of this room and back into the first room.

You will see some gears on the wall. Use the Magnesis Rune to turn the gears and raise up a pedestal. Hop over to it and examine the pedestal. Now head outside and up the path to the next level. Enter the room and kill the enemy.

Now wait until the revolving gear positions the pedestal at the bottom and raise an ice pillar on the water spout to stop the flow of water. Hop onto the inside of the gear and examine the pedestal. Exit this room and head up to the next level. There will be a creature blocking the path.

Simply shoot the eyeball up on the left wall to remove it. Head up and into the next room. You will see a large gear across the bridge. Head over to it and open up the map. You can move Ruta’s trunk. Move it up and wait a few moments. When the trunk gets up high enough, water will fall and turn the gear.

You will notice as the gear turns that a ball falls down and touches a hole, which opens the door to the next pedestal. You must use the Stasis Rune on the ball while it is turning to keep it from fall out of the hole. Do this and move Ruta’s trunk back down as the pedestal gets near.

Hop over quickly before the ball unfreezes and closes the door. Examine the pedestal and leave the small room. Move the trunk back up and start the gear turning again. You will notice a chest that is surrounded by two blocks.

As the blocks come around, you need to use the Stasis Rune on the top block to keep it from falling with the chest and bottom block. Do this and quickly hop over when able to open the chest, which contains an Ancient Core. Now glide back over to the smaller gear.

You should notice a chest on the opposite side of the room from you as you are gliding. Raise an ice pillar beside the wall, climb up it, and jump over to the wall to reach the chest. It contain a Silver Rupee. Now head towards the large gear, but stay on this level of the room.

If the gear is turning downward when you get between it and the smaller one, you need to lower the trunk some to reverse the gears direction. You want it going in the direction that will make it carry you to the top and finally to the other side of the room if you were to jump onto it.

Do this and you will reach the higher level on the opposite side of the larger gear. Defeat the enemy and press the switch nearby. Now head towards the trunk of the Divine Beast. Move the trunk to the lowest level. Shoot the eyeball near the chest on the trunk. Glide over the chest, which contains an Ancient Shaft.

Now raise the trunk to the highest level. Be quick and jump off and glide over to the top of the Divine Beast’s head when you are able. Drop down the small hole and shoot the eyeball on the back wall. Use the Magnesis Rune to turn the gears and open the ceiling.

Lower the trunk just enough so that water flows through the hole and puts out the flames below. Hop down and examine the pedestal. Turn and hope down to the ledge below to find a chest, which contains a Knight’s Halberd. Hop back down and head back towards the trunk.

Lower it to the lowest level and glide over to the tip of the trunk. Raise the trunk 1 level and get on top to keep from falling. Get behind the water spout, so when the trunk raises another level – the raised portion of the spout can keep you from sliding.

Raise the trunk to level 4 and hop down to the pedestal below. Raise the trunk up to level 7 to make the platform level enough to walk over and examine the pedestal. Do such and this will be the last terminal for Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Glide over toward the back of the Divine Beast.

Land on top of the area with the chest and the goo. Shoot an arrow at the eyeball on the opposite side of the Ruta. This will remove the goo and allow you to open the chest, which contains Ice Arrow x10. Now glide down back inside the beast and land in the rear to find the last pedestal. Examine it for a cutscene.

Divine Beast Vah Ruta Boss: Waterblight Ganon

Waterblight Ganon will appear and is the boss of the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. Waterblight Ganon can be difficult if you do not know how to beat him. You will want to stay far away from him and quickly shoot arrows at the head of the beast and anything he materializes.

After a few successful attacks, Waterblight Ganon will be stunned. Run over and attack him as many times as possible. He will teleport to the other side of the room. Repeat this process a few times until Waterblight Ganon raises the water level in the room.

The concept is the same except this time – Waterblight Ganon will also toss giant cubes of ice at you. Shoot them with your arrow and shoot him as well. After a few successful attacks, the creature will be stunned. Swim over and attack him. Repeat this several times and the foe will start aiming a red laser at you.

This is your que to quickly finish him off with as many arrows as possible. Once defeated, a short cutscene will happen followed by a Heart Container dropping to the floor. Pick it up and head back to the pedestal. Examine it once more for a cutscene with Mipha.

Afterwards, you will be transported back to Zora’s Domain and will get Mipha’s Grace. Head back to the Throne Room for a cutscene and dialog with King Dorephan. This will complete the Divine Beast Vah Ruta quest. Now open the chest next to King Dorephan, which contains a Lightscale Trident.
