As part of today's Nintendo Direct, we got a release date for the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. It will be launching exclusively on Switch 2 on November 6, 2025. The new trailer also showed off the use of Zonai devices and their various elemental effects. Split-screen co-op and the support for GameShare were also revealed. Check out the full trailer below.

As part of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, we got one new Zelda game reveal. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will be the third game in the Hyrule Warriors series. It tells the story of the Imprisoning War, which lead to the events of Tears of the Kingdom.

Like the other Hyrule Warrrios games developed by Koei-Tecmo, Age of Imprisonment blends Zelda and Dynasty Warriors gameplay. You'll be able to fight as many of the characters from Tears of the Kingdom against giant hordes of enemies in various battle scenarios. While it's a spinoff series, it also serves as a canonical prequel to Tears of the Kingdom. It will be released exclusively for Switch 2 this winter.

Nintendo is already making good use of the Nintendo Today! app they released yesterday. They have confirmed a release date for the upcoming live action Zelda movie. It'll come to the silver screen in two years on March 26, 2027. There was no further footage or details about the film shown, so we'll have to wait a little longer to no much about it. We'll see if a live action adaption will be as succesful as the animated Super Mario Bros. movie was in 2023.

Today marks the global release for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. We can now play as Zelda as the primary protagonist of a Zelda game for the first time ever. As a very welcome surprise in today's Nintendo Direct presentation, a brand new Zelda games was announced! The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be the next game in the series coming to Nintendo Switch. It's a 2D Zelda game that features the same engine and art style as the Link's Awakening Remake.

Perhaps most importantly, Echoes of Wisdom will be the first Zelda game to feature Princess Zelda herself as the primary playable protagonist. Rather than fighting with a sword like Link, she will use the Tri Rod, which will allow her to create items and enemies that she has encountered across Hyrule. Fans have been asking for a game where Zelda is playable for a long time, so let's hope that this lives up to those expectations!

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will launch for Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024. We will be providing full game coverage including a walkthrough, so be sure to check back after the release. You can also check out the full trailer from the direct below.

It's a great day for Zelda fans. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available worldwide in both physical and digital form. All indications point to this long awaited sequel to Breath of the Wild living up to the quality of it's predecessor. As we expected, we got a new cinematic trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom during today's Nintendo Direct presentation. While there was no deep dive into any new game mechanics, story, or gameplay, we did see glimpses of what's in store. The floating island in the sky theme seems to be very prevelant, with Link traversing this new state of Hyrule with various colored paragliders as well as other ancient vehicles. We also saw a few new enemies and bosses, though they were not named or detailed.

What's great news is that there will be no further delay for the release date. It will still be releasing on the Switch on May 12, 2023. What has changed is the MSRP of the game. It will be the first Nintendo game (since the SNES era) that will go for a suggested $69.99. This price applies to both the physical and digital versions of the game. In addition, a Tears of the Kingdom Collector's Edition was revealed. This version includes the game, an artbook, a Steelbook case, a poster, and some badges for an MSRP of $129.99.

We're just over three months away from the launch of this highly anticipated game, so stay tuned for any more news we'll get, although this may be the last major trailer before release. You can go ahead and check the full trailer out below:

The long awaited sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild got an official title and release date in the lastest Nintendo Direct. The next 3D Zelda game will be called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It's set to launch next spring, on May 12, 2023. A brief cinematic trailer with some gameplay footage was also shown.

In the trailer, Link can be seen leaping into the skies in the style of Skyward Sword. It also seems like some sort of new rune is shown, which allows the incremental movement of objects in time. A new gliding device, shaped like a stone bird, that Link rides atop can be seen.

After over six years of waiting for the next 3D Zelda game, we can only hope that this game lives up to the precedent set by Breath of the Wild. With over six months until the release, move information is sure to be revealed, so stay tuned. In the meantime, check out the new trailer:

The sequel to Breath of the Wild revealed to be in development during a previous Nintendo E3 presentation, finally has a trailer. This trailer was shown at the end of the Nintendo Direct and shows us the first glimpse of this highly anticipated Zelda title.

The sequel appears to feature new environments, large vertical ruins, new enemies, and other such features. A primary feature of this sequel seems to be the focus on the exploration of areas such as the sky.

As of right now, the only information currently available other than the said trailer is that the sequel will be released sometime in 2022 for the Switch.

During the latest Nintendo Direct, two waves of DLC were announced for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. It will expand on the roster and add several new challenges to the game, with some centered around the Royal Ancient Lab. New Enemies, moves, and costumes will also be part of the DLC. It will be available for purchase on May 28, 2021 for $19.99. Wave 1 will be available in June and Wave 2 is coming in November.

During the most recent Nintendo Direct, a remaster of Skyward Sword for Switch was announced. Skyward Sword HD will release for Switch on July 16, 2021. It features an updated HD resolution and 60 fps performance. In addition to the motion controls the game was built for with the Joy-Con, there will also be an option to use stick controls. No other new features are known at this time.

Alongside Skyward Sword HD, a set of special Skyward Sword themed Joy-Con will also be released on July 16. They are royal blue and feature a number of Zelda and Skyward Sword related emblems. Controversially, this remaster will retail for the usual $59.99, despite being only $49.99 upon release on the Wii ten years ago. The Joy-Con will retail for $79.99.

We've all been excited for the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel that was announced last year. While we'll likely be waiting at least another year for that to drop, Nintendo has surprised us with a prequel of sorts to tide us over. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was just announced as the next entry in the Hyrule Warriors series. It will be released for Switch on November 20, 2020.

The game takes place in Breath of the Wild's Hyrule 100 years before the events of BOTW. This is the great war during the age of Calamity Ganon that is touched upon several times in Breath of the Wild. In true Hyrule Warriors (and Dynasty Warriors) fashion, you'll get to control a variety of Breath of the Wild characters and take part in that very battle.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will feature action-packed hack and slash gameplay. You'll be tasked with facing large swarms of enemies at the same time as you battle through the great war. You'll be able to play as Link, Zelda, the four champions, Impa, and more. Each character has their own unique traits and weapons that they can use. Various locations accross the Breath of the Wild map will be featured as settings in the game.

The first Hyrule Warriors game launched for Wii U in 2014. Since then, that same game has also been released for 3DS and Switch. If you haven't played it yet, now would be the perfect time to get yourself ready for this new adventure.

Cadence of Hyrule, a Crypt of the Necrodancer game, launches on June 13,2019 for the Nintendo Switch. The game brings together both the Legend of Zelda series and the Crypt of the Necrodancer series for what appears to be some rythmic fun as you stay on beat to progress throughout the games various challenges.

Hyrule Warriors has seen releases on the Wii U and 3DS, and has now seen a subsequent expanded release on the Switch. The 3DS version offered slightly more content than the Wii U one did, but at a reduction in visual quality. Nintendo recently announced the Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, which is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This version will include all of the characters and DLC from the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game as well as new outfits based on Breath of the Wild. The game is set to launch in the Spring and we look forward to trying it out on new hardware. Be sure to check out some screenshots below to tide you over.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been updated to version 1.3.3. This update brings with it the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sidequest amongst some other minor things. It adds support for the Champion amiibo, fixes a bug in the Hero's Path Mode, and "various fixes" to improve the gameplay experience.

As seen in the screenshot above, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 content brings with it some new gear. This outfit is themed after the Rex character from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. This sidequest will be available for both the Wii U and Switch versions. Be sure to check out our guide for the quest if you want help!

The first expansion to Breath of the Wild launched on June 30th, bringing with it some new content and challenges; however, the second expansion has yet to be released. Many people are wondering if it has been delayed or if we will ever get it. Kotaku recently got a chance to speak briefly with Reggie Fils-Aime, who said that the the release date is coming soon and to "not lock and load on November 10th."

Eiji Aonuma revealed some details about Breath of the Wild's next DLC, The Champions' Ballad, at the Japan Expo in Paris. We also got a small amount of footage from Nintendo's social media. The DLC is known as being more story based then the first one.

Aonuma confirmed that the player will still control Link and that we will learn more about Zelda's role. A shirt from The Wind Waker HD will also make an appearance. The DLC will bring with it a new dungeon, according to Nintendo.

E3 2017 is done and over with, but coverage from the event is likely to continue for a while with all of the interviews and presentations that happen behind closed doors. Our sister site, Concealed Gaming, had the chance to try out Circle of Saviors at the show.

The game presenters revealed their inspirations behind some of the aspects of the game. The grass seen in the screenshot above was inspired by Breath of the Wild. How did this come about? Well, the developers originally had a plain boring ground in their game.

They were playing Zelda one day and noticed how beautiful the environments were and that their own was ugly. So they spruced up Circle of Saviors to include a more vibrant environment, specifically the grass.

Breath of the Wild is getting an expansion pack, which has been known for a long time, but we did not have a lot of details such as a release date for the different DLC. Nintendo just announced in their E3 2017 presentation that the first DLC pack launches June 30th, 2017.

The Master Trials DLC pack will bring several new things to the game, which includes:

• Trial of the Sword - Trial of the Sword will put players against enemies without any gear with the hopes of powering up their Master Sword even further.
• Master Mode - Master Mode will be akin to hard mode.

We all know about A Link Between Worlds seeing as it released several years ago. Well, the handheld and console divisions were supposedly combined since that time. Game Informer asked Eiji Aonuma about this and he said "don't necessarily want" to combine the Zelda dev teams because they have "different approaches to game development." Breath of the Wild is set to recieve some DLC later in 2017 according to a press release sent to us by Nintendo. You will be able to purchase the Expansion Pass for $19.99 when the game launches. This will unlock 3 chests in the game. One will contain a shirt Link can wear that has the Nintendo Switch logo while the other two will grant helpful items.

When the first DLC launches during the summer, a Cave of Trial will be added to the game along with some other features. Coming from an interview with IGN, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has talked about the possibility of another Zelda title coming to the Nintendo Switch eventually. Aonuma stated that he has not "been able to fully use all of the new features of the system" and that "there could be the possibility of another Zelda on Nintendo Switch." We already found out the digital file size of Breath of the Wild. Now we have confirmation that the Wii U retail version also requires at least 3GB of space for an install that is required to play the game. So either way - you'll have to use up a bit of space if you plan on playing the Wii U version. Nintendo also told IGN that the Nintendo Switch version of the game is rendered in 900p in TV mode, while the Wii U version is rendered in 720p. Both versions run at a frame rate of 30 FPS.

There are only minor other differences between the games, which is akin to the "same experience" that was hinted at during E3 2016. The game launches for both Nintendo Switch and Wii U on March 3rd, 2017!

According to the Nintendo Japan page for Breath of the Wild, the game comes in a 13.4GB on the Nintendo Switch and 13GB on the Nintendo Wii U. With the Nintendo Switch only having 32GB of space - less when you take out system file storage - this is a large part of the internal storage. The Wii U only had 32GB of space for the larger storage configuration as well. So for those who prefer digital, you will want to find an external solution because the internal storage will become filled quickly after a few games.

Well, this is a funny place for an article like this to be published. A non-Nintendo, non-Zelda game by the name of Neverwinter piqued my interests when I went to E3 for the first time back in 2012. While looking through my pictures from E3 2016 - I noticed the display above. It shows off some of the stages that the Wolf Link amiibo took throughout development from the prototype up to the final product. For those who are unable to see in the picture - you got the digital print prototype, casted mold maquette, test sample, final without paint, and the final product ordered from left to right. You can see subtle changes from one to the next with some stages showing much more significant detail. This was an interesting display that gives some insight into the process of developing an amiibo figurine prior to launching it out to the open market.

Twilight Princess HD launched with the Wolf Link amiibo and it will have support in the upcoming Breath of the Wild as well. Be sure to check back for more updates soon!

I had the opportunity to play The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword at E3 in 2010. I remember being amazed with the motion controls and the new take on combat — I went back and played the demo a few times (there wasn’t a three hour line for this one). When the game came out I was ultimately disappointed. Sure, the motion controls were nifty and all, but the game was just so tiny. It didn’t feel like Zelda. It didn’t feel like an adventure.

I ended up hating the motion controls after a couple more play throughs of Skyward Sword. They quickly went from clever feature to annoying hinderance. Five years after release, the only dungeon that sticks out to me was the Sandship. And Farore’s trial near the end — don’t even get me started on that.

Coming from a recent interview, Eiji Aonuma mentions that Link is right handed because that is the side of the Wii U GamePad that players will use to control the sword.

In terms of right-handedness of things, when we think about which hand Link is going to use, we think about the control scheme. With the gamepad, the buttons you'll be using to swing the sword are on the right side, and thus he's right-handed.

We also know that both the Wii U and NX versions will be the same experience according to Aonuma. With the game scheduled to launch in 2017, we only have a matter of time until we are able to find out just how identical both versions are to one another. Breath of the Wild was shown off at E3 2016. We got lots of information about the game alongside the new trailer that was shown. Nintendo said the game would break the boundaries for the franchise and games as a whole. In an interview with Polygon, Eiji Aonuma even said we would be able to complete the game without ever finishing the story.

Users may not actually get the full story depending on how they play this game and how they strategize and solve puzzles. Users are able to go to the very end goal without revealing why Link woke up the way he did and where he did. Whether you want to reveal the storyline and find out why Link woke up, or you want to just go straight to the goal, that's an option totally up to the user.

So what does this mean exactly? Well, you can go straight to the end of the game if you want without ever finding out why Link is in the position of which he was awoken from a 100 year slumber to overcome. Nintendo wants to make the game as open world as possible and, exciting as this may be, they seem to have done just that.

Anybody who can go straight to the goal without doing anything else — there's two possibilities. Either they're a really good gamer, or they could be somebody that's a little bit crazy. But it's not impossible. I created the game like that. Maybe it might be fun for fans to compete in a challenge for who can clear it first.

We posted a breakdown of the new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We now have the actual trailer for you to check out. It has been posted below for your convenience.

The upcoming Zelda for the Wii and Nintendo NX is now known as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The rumored ability to scale mountains has seemingly been confirmed. Link was seen scaling mountains, building, and such in a recent trailer. Link was saw cutting down a tree to build a bridge with an axe.

Link appears to be able to cook food to eat, which we assume enhances stats or could possibly cause damage should the wrong recipe be used. What appeared to be a wild horse was tamed by Link and able to be ridden around. There was a spear or javalin type weapon shown. A Sailcloth similar from Skyward Sword was shown.

You are able to manipulate the environment with new types of weapons such as a magnet type thing and the ability to raise blocks out of the ground. You can check out the Zelda trailer here.

We posted some new Zelda Wii U artwork that other day and, as seen above, have some more for you today. This artwork was originally posted on Amazon, which it appears to have been removed as of the time of writting. It was later posted to the Legend of Zelda page on Facebook. It depicts Link climbing what appears to be a mountain, which seeming hints at a rock climbing mechanic. You can see the traditional gear such as arrows, sword, and shield; however, you can clearly see various regions in the background of the image as well. Go ahead and check it out and analyze it for yourself. You'll see a plethora of goodies to be found!

In fact, when Zelda U was first shown, many fans were excited, as they thought the Link shown was indeed a female Link. Twilight Princess was one of the first games that I preordered in my younger years and one of the first games that I truly was hyped for when it finally came out after countless delays. The day finally came for me to pick up my copy for the Nintendo GameCube (GCN) and, later that Christmas, for the Nintendo Wii. I instantly turned on my GCN when I got home and put the game in that I had so eagerly awaited for such a long time. The game was great, but did the newly released Twilight Princess HD for the Nintendo Wii U become the definitive version?

Note: This review is based on experiences using the Wii U GamePad as the main display and not an HD TV.

Graphics

The first thing you notice when you start the game is the graphics. This is mostly true for most games and is something that many people were looking for in this remake. While there are a lot of little tweaks and the game does look more crisp and clean – there is little difference overall when using the GamePad screen compared to the original Twilight Princess on the GCN. The difference might be bigger when playing on an HD TV, but this is a GamePad only review as that is how I play all of my Wii U games.

The graphics are smooth and I did not have any noticeable artifacts or frame rate drops. This is great and was not really something that plagued the originals, but it should be mentioned that some of the minor things in the originals seems to have been ironed out in the remake. No longer does Wolf Link’s tail appear to act as if Link is readying a spin attack. This bug appeared on the Nintendo Wii version of the game and made Wolf Link’s tail even make the spin attack readying noise.

Audio

The rest of the audio in the game is just as you remember. It brings back lots of nostalgia from simpler times when I could sit around and play games all day. The audio is clear and the soundtrack is as vibrant and beautiful as ever. The soundtrack really helps bring a vibe to the game that would not otherwise be portrayed in such a way – the soundtrack really brings together the feel and atmosphere of the game.

From the earie theme of the Twilight Realm to the happy-go-lucky theme of the mini-games – each tune is unique with that iconic Zelda-style that makes the games so memorable. This has not changed in the remake as the original soundtrack remains intact. As noted earlier – the minor audio glitches in the Nintendo Wii version of the game (not present in the GCN version) have seemingly been fixed and no longer pique my interest as to why this is making such and such sound.

Gameplay

Gameplay is one the big driving factors behind a lot of people’s choice to play Zelda games and is one for me as well. The changes to the gameplay are subtle and flow with the overall cleaner feel of the game. There were no problems using the motion controls on the GamePad from my experiences with the game. The battles I remembered from years ago still reign supreme in this remake.

I remember fighting the mini-boss in the first temple, which is the one with the monkeys, and thinking it was difficult to win until I figured out the secret. This experience did not happen on the remake, but why would it? I already know how to defeat him! I bring this up because these experiences will be fondly remembered by newcomers to the game and franchise. The gameplay in Twilight Princess HD is just as good as I remembered, if not better, and something that brought me back to it.

I love having the weapon list at my finger tips on the GamePad. This allows me to easily change out my item buttons and progress through the game faster. This is slightly slowed down when also using the GamePad as the main display device, but it is still faster than how it worked on the GCN with having to wait briefly for the menus and such; however, it is not much faster – it is just easier to navigate.

amiibo Functionality

The amiibo functionality of the game can alter ones strategy when going through the dungeons and other obstacles. You can use the Princess Zelda amiibo to recover hearts in a tight spot, which many argue makes the game easier; however, you do not have to use it. For those arguing about the game being easier – check out the Ganondorf amiibo.

This amiibo makes Link take double damage. Combine this with Hero Mode and you will certainly be in for a challenge. The Wolf Link amiibo takes you to the Cave of Shadows and lets you take on another challenge. The amiibo features add to the game and give me another reason to keep my beautiful amiibo on my desk or side tables. I love this aspect of the game!

Hero Mode

Hero Mode has become a staple in franchise with many of the recent games and remakes featuring such a mode. Twilight Princess HD’s Hero Mode makes Link take double damage and no hearts will drop. Combine this with the Ganondorf amiibo for a true challenge, which is something many longtime fans of the franchise have been asking about for a long time. This will make what would normally be easy become a hurdle that might take a lot of work to overcome.

Hero Mode has always been something I have been a fan of since it was first introduced to the series. I love running through the game without being able to get hit. I always loved to speed run games as well, which makes for an enjoyable time for me when combined with the new challenges of Hero Mode and the Ganondorf amiibo function. Hero Mode is for the diehard fan and those who enjoy challenges and Twilight Princess HD succeeds at this goal.

Conclusion

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is a remake for a game that I loved when I was younger and is the definitive version followed by the GCN version and the Wii version being at the bottom of the list. Twilight Princess HD refines the experience to a level that makes it overall more enjoyable than the originals and the graphics make it look as good as it plays.

The game is one that I recommend to fans of the genre, the franchise, and the game as it really takes it to a new level with all the changes and will bring many hours of relaxation and, sometimes, playful stress as the player navigates the land of Hyrule once more! This game will make you clean the dust, or not if that is what you prefer, off of your Nintendo Wii U and give it many more hours of life!

Some of the new features include the Ghost Lantern item and amiibo functionality. Twilight Princess HD is releasing on March 4 in the US and comes with the Wolf Link amiibo - as seen in the image above - that unlocks new functionality in the game. The Wolf Link amiibo unlocks the Cave of Shadows. Upon completion of the Cave of Shadows - the player will be able to save their remaining hearts to the Wolf Link amiibo in order to replenish them in future bouts with the dungeon.

Update 10/9/15: A new source has clarified that Phantom Ganon will be the version from The Wind Waker HD. He uses his large swords to deal heavy attacks. If you purchase both versions of the game - you will get Skull Kid on the Wii U version as well. A new stage featuring elements from The Wind Waker HD will be present and there will be a new "Smash Burst Power" system. Check the source link above for more details.

In the latest edition of Famitsu, new information has been released about Hyrule Warriors Legends that Skull Kid will be a playable character and that Phantom Ganon will be a boss. Phantom Ganon will use an ocarina during battle and have a fairy by his side. We do not have very many details, but we do now know that it will follow the player of the color that its eyes turn. Tri Force Heroes - or The Three Triforce Musketeers in Japan - has been given a filesize of 8,200 blocks or around 1GB for the Japanese version. There has been no details surfacing regarding the NA/EU version; however, it should be roughly the same filesize as the Japanese version. Hyrule Warriors Legends has been set to release on January 21, 2016 and in Europe and North America in early Q1 2016. Tri Force Heroes is quickly reaching its launch date of October 23 in many regions. There have been numerous details released about it and today is no different. The official Zelda Twitter account tweeted the screenshot you see above. The text roughly translated to the game having 2 types of costumes for the players to use.

They are a Support Type and Strengthening Type. We have no real details right now, so we would have to say that "Support Type" costumes will buff up the players and the "Strengthening Type" costumes will power up the players attacks. We will keep you updated should more information surface!

Toon Link originally appeared in The Wind Waker and became a really unique art style for our beloved Hero. When Hyrule Warriors launched back last year, it did have tons of characters; however, it did not feature the likes of Toon Link or the others from The Wind Waker.

Well, it was rumored that Toon Link would appear in Hyrule Warriors Legends recently and it was all but confirmed. The official Twitter account for the series recently changed that when they tweeted out the screenshot above and 100% confirmed the cameo of Toon Link in Hyrule Warriors Legends.

On the official Zelda Twitter, Nintendo has posted the screenshot you see of Tri Force Heroes above. It depicts 4 areas of the game and 4 stages per area. In the Tweet text - roughly translated - it confirms that there will be 8 areas in the game and each will have 4 stages. That makes for 32 stages total. This does not include any unknown stages and only covers what we know so far.

Toon Link - who debuted in The Wind Waker HD - has been announced as a playable character in Hyrule Warriors Legends according to a recent Famitsu leak. He will not be featured in Legend Mode, but will be available for use in the other modes of the game. The game will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show next week and we should have confirmation before that time if this leak is real or not.

You may remember when we posted about the animated A Link to the Past map created in HTML5 and JavaScript. It garnered a lot of attention across the web and the creators - jadsds engine - have recreated the Dark World map from A Link to the Past in the same style. We recently reported about Tri Force Heroes and the placement on the Zelda timeline. Well, in the same interview with Game Informer - it was mentioned that Tri Force Heroes will not feature costumes based on Mario or any other franchise. The costumes will be based on the Zelda universe only. There is little known if they will add in ones later using DLC; however, this is certainly an option. Should that happen - we will be sure to let you know!

We recently reported that Tri Force Heroes is not in the Zelda timeline; however, we now have reports of uncertainty in the matter. Nintendo's Hiromasa Shikata - in an interview with Game Informer - said that Zelda has "three parallel worlds" and he "can't say which one it's in at this point." This sheds doubt on the previous reports and brings some hope to the game being part of the timeline. We will keep you updated as new information surfaces.

Tri Force Heroes is launching for Nintendo 3DS later this year and brings a multiplayer experience. In the game - you work together to get the materials for new outfits, which change the attributes of the players wearing them. One such outfit is a Zelda outfit, which leads many to wonder if a female playable character would be present in the game.

In an interview with IGN - Tri Force Heroes Director Hiromasa Shikata explains why a female character will not appear in the game. Eimear Noone - the conductress for Symphony of the Goddesses - recently launched a Kickstarter for a new project entitled: Songs of Zelda: A Link to the Celts. They are striving to create an album full of Zelda music with an Irish twist. Hyrule Warriors is heading to 3DS according to a leaked E3 announcement on the official Koei Tecmo YouTube channel. The video may go private if they did not mean to release it; however, we have the details. JADSD recently debuted their A Link to the Past Live Map created with HTML5 and JavaScript. The live map became popular quickly and caused the site to slow down, which is the reason I delayed mentioning it. Well, their site is back to normal. They have also recently added Zora's Domain to their list of maps. They now include the Light World and Zora's Domain. These maps are made special by having the enemies and NPC's animated and wandering around. I found it pretty cool to look over the map and reminisce over my experiences with A Link to the Past over the years.

Who else was struck by nostalgia when they glanced over this live map?

Hyrule Warriors released last year and exceeded many people's expectations. The game is a Dynasty Warriors and Zelda mixup that has several DLC already released for it. We already knew that sales were exceeding expectations. Well, today we have reports that the games has sold over 1 million units worldwide and that the DLC is selling at a good pace. There have been no announcements concerning future DLC, but the sales data is still good. We will keep you updated on future announcements of the game like always.

Nintendo World Store is giving out an exclusive poster with purchases of the A Link to the Past novel that recently launched in-store. The poster is only available while supplies last and we have no information about supply numbers. The poster features artwork from the A Link to the Past comic that is depicted in the new novel. Wondering what the poster looks like? Look no further as we have embedded it above.

The Majora's Mask Light above is available to Club Nintendo members in Australia, Europe, and New Zealand. The light features the iconic design of Majora's Mask from the game Majora's Mask 3D. It is 6000 Stars in Europe and 4000 Stars in Australia/New Zealand. There is no word on if this is coming to North America - which we doubt, but we will keep you updated should it appear.

The 2015 World Video Game Hall of Fame finalists have been announced. The Legend of Zelda has been included on the list as it started an iconic series and was the first NES game to sell more than a million copies as a stand-alone title. We have known about the A Link to the Past Manga coming to the USA by way of VIZ Media; however, we had no details about Australia. Well, now we know that Madman have picked up the rights to the manga in Australia and will be publishing it on June 10, 2015. The manga originally appeared in Nintendo Power many years ago as a multiple part series. You can view the A Link to the Past comic here.

A custom Fierce Deity Link amiibo has surfaced from a user on Reddit. This variation was created using the Toon Link amiibo as a base. As you can see in the image - the creator took great strides to make the sword appear like it does in Majora's Mask 3D, which is the of a double helix. Did you know that Link is featured in Donkey Kong Country 2? Well, as you can see in the screenshot above - Link is part of the Cranky's Video Game Heroes screen that judges you based upon how many of his coins you have gathered throughout the game. This screen is available after beating K. Rool at the end of the game or by pressing the L & R buttons on any of the map screens after beating the game. Link is replaced on this screen once the player has acquired more DK Coins than him.

Nintendo UK recently begun shipping out preorders for the Zelda Faceplates shown in the image above. People started receiving them only to notice they were sent the other New 3DS faceplate instead. It turns out that the online store accidentally had the wrong serial numbers attached to each product, which means that potentially all orders were swapped. The scope is not fully known right now, but Nintendo UK is offering replacements to some while others are only able to get refunds.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Netflix is teaming up with Nintendo to create an live-action series based on the Legend of Zelda. It is being described as a "Game of Thrones," but for the family audience. Nintendo has not allowed many adaptations of their IP over the years.

There was a Zelda series that ran for a short time back in 1989 and none - that we know of - since. It is being reported that a writer is still being seeked for this new project so it far from being a reality just yet. It could still be shut down by either Netflix or Nintendo prior to launch.

The New 3DS has been out in Japan for some time now. It features interchangeable faceplates and this is a very appealing aspect of the device. While this is not being released in the US yet - we want to bring to your attention the Zelda Faceplates that are launching in Japan. Nintendo UK have begun offering preorders for a second batch of the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL. It is set to deliver on March 31st, 2015 and includes a Skull Kid figurine and charger. Shipped numbers have been released for Hyrule Warriors. That number is over 1 million units shipped globally. Keep in mind that shipped is not the same as sold; however, this is good news. Hyrule Warriors was released in many regions last year and continues to provide new content with DLC, which the next one drops on February 5th.

VIZ Media has announced the republishing of the A Link to the Past Comic that originally was printed in Nintendo Power as part of a series. The comic will be bound more like a novel this time - as seen in the image above - and will release on May 5th, 2015. Updated 1/23/2015 8:15PM ET: Best Buy is still cancelling preorders so keep an eye out of your email. Our very own preorder was cancelled due to overselling of original preorders. We only had 1 preordered so it is not just for those with multiples preordered. No one seems to be safe at this point; however, they are offering a $50 promotional code. They recommend changing the payment method to a gift card or credit card if you paid with PayPal as they had issues with some PayPal payments. Nintendo AU NZ posted on Twitter that preorders are full for the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL in Australia and New Zealand. In a following tweet - they said a limited amount of stock will be replenished in March. There is no word on a restock in the US or elsewhere to our knowledge. It has been revealed that the download size for Majora's Mask 3D is 661MB. The image above - coming from the official Nintendo site - confirms that preorders have opened for the Digital version of the game. Preorders for the physical copy have been available for some time now as well. So what is left to ask? Well, are you going to preorder the game? Digital or physical?

With the announcement of the Majora's Mask 3D release date yesterday alongside the reveal of the Majora's Mask New 3DS XL, we are now getting more details on the changes seen in the game. There will be a feature that allows players to set an alarm for certain characters. The fairy will alert you when the alarm sounds so that you can progress to what the purpose of the alarm was - be it a sidequest or another objective. The Clock Town Bombers Gang kids are now in different locations and the Clock Town Bank is in the main square. The Circle Pad Pro is also compatible with the game.

Alongside Majora's Mask 3D's launch - a Limited Edition Majora's Mask New 3DS XL will launch on February 13th in North America. It features a golden color and can be seen in the image above and will not include the game. The New 3DS will not include an AC adapter; however, all previous DSi and 3DS AC adapters will work with it. It is priced at $199.99 and available to preorder from GameStop here is sold out online and likely in-stores as well! We recently asked Target on Twitter if they would be accepting preorders or selling the Limited Edition Majora's Mask 3D and they answered us. As seen in the image above (or on our Twitter page) - they said they have no information available at this time. This does not rule out the possibility, but it is not looking good at this time.

Well, in a recent interview with director Shinya Hiratakem - it was mentioned that the concept behind Captain Toad started off with Link instead of Toad. The concept was very much the same but used Link to traverse through the diorama-like levels. Hyrule Warriors launched over a month ago in North America and Europe. It launched nearly 2 months again in Japan. Well, how are sales doing you ask? Coming from a recent Q&A between Famitsu and Koei Tecmo - sales are as expected in Japan. They go on to say that sales overseas can not be given by them because of Nintendo publishing it outside of Japan; however, Koei Tecmo does say that sales are above expectations. They hope that sales stay strong overseas with the help of future shipments. So good news aside - how are you enjoying Hyrule Warriors?

A Kickstarter recently appeared trying to fund an animated parody movie based on Ocarina of Time 3D. The project is headed by Smashbits, who have created a plethora of entertaining videos - just take a look at their YouTube channel. UPDATED 11:58PM EST 9/11/2014 Added additional details about other European regions below.

We now have confirmation the preorder costume sets for Hyrule Warriors are coming to Europe. The Marketing Manager for Nintendo has Tweeted a couple times about the sets. The Ocarina of Time set is available at Nintendo UK Store and the Twilight Princess set is available from GAME for those in UK.

Many other European regions must take a picture of their receipt and fill out an online form: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The same thing must be done as well in Scandinavia except the picture must be sent to Nintendo distributor Bergsala in order to get the code. We will keep you updated on more details on the inevitable eShop release of the costume sets when information is available.

Coming in form of a Tweet - it has been confirmed that the Hyrule Warriors Limited Edition will be coming to North America; however, it will be exclusive to Nintendo World Store in New York. This is unfortunate as many across North America want this bundle - me included. Due to high demand, Nintendo World Store is not taking any preorders. What are your thoughts about this?

The official Japanese Hyrule Warriors Twitter account has posted that a patch is nearly finished that will address several known bugs and glitches in the game. It also confirms that a new mode is going to be launched alongside the patch; however, we have no confirmation on any details for this mode. Nintendo of Japan's page for Hyrule Warriors details some of the games online functionality. It says there will be DLC, automatic posting to Miiverse, and the ability to play a special battle in adventure mode. It appears to mean that online play will be allowed in the game; however, the translation can be a little rough. The Japanese version of the game is a 7.8GB download and the game will allow multiplayer up to 2 people. We will keep you updated with anymore information that surfaces.

Some other interesting information from the scan is that the Ball & Chain from Twilight Princess will be an in-game weapon and that Ghirahim plus the Imprisoned will both be enemies. For those who never played Skyward Sword - Fi is Link's sidekick, while Ghirahim is the antagonist of the game. The Imprisoned is another recurring antagonist. The Hyrule Warriors Twitter account has released a small spoiler concerning Midna and her role during the beginning of the game. While we know that Midna is a playable character in the game, she will start off as an enemy and later on become a playable character. For those unaware - Midna is the sidekick of Link during his travels through the game Twilight Princess. She helps him while in Wolf form in several ways such as helping him to get across to ledges far away. Midna even has her own fanfare - a site by the name of WantMidnaBack has been working to get her back into a game ever since the release of Twilight Princess.

A Kickstarter has recently surfaced for a Majora's Mask themed Advent Calendar - as seen above. The author of the Kickstarter is asking for $7,500 in order to be able to create the calendars and secure spots at different conventions to showcase them. The calendars feature various "mask tokens" as well as a board featuring Termina - the map from the game. For those unaware of what an Advent Calendar is - it is a special calendar used to count down the days left until Christmas; however, it could also be used to count down the days until any event of your choosing. With all of the latest Hyrule Warriors news came a question posted to the official Twitter account for the game - the question? "Will there be a Wii U Bundle in Japan?" The answer being that no plans are on the horizon for such a bundle; however, they recommended getting the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle. We have no information that such a bundle even exists - if even in the idea stage. We will be sure to keep you up to date should such come into official existence. The game launches on August 14th in Japan.

The official North American site for Hyrule Warriors has launched following the launch of the Japanese site and a host of screenshots from Nintendo UK. Nintendo of America has released a press release covering some details from Hyrule Warriors. Previous known as Shia - Sorceress Cia is the name of the new villain. Impa joins as a playable character for the first time with a huge sword and can perform powerful combos. There are still unknown playable characters as well. The official Japanese site for Hyrule Warriors has launched. The site features a plethora of screenshots and other information - albeit, in Japanese. The site does confirm that DLC with make an appearance in the game; however, there is no information currently about what that will consist of. Some things to consider would be side-quests, new character gear and items, or other misc things. Hyrule Warriors launches in Japan on August 14th, 2014 and international dates have yet to be announced. We will keep you updated.

The soundtrack - entitled Lime of the Season - features all of the tracks from the original mix in a new style to make them a joy to the ears and is hosted by Revasser. Several months ago - Club Nintendo started offering the A Link Between Worlds poster set seen above. It quickly sold out after only a few days. Well, good news has come to those who did not get one - it is now available once more so go on by Club Nintendo and get it. This offer is on the North American Club Nintendo for only 500 coins.

The Zelda 3DS Game case we reported about roughly a month ago has now sold out on Club Nintendo. Four Swords Anniversary Edition is available once more for a limited time for free on the eShop on 3DS and 2DS to celebrate the praise given to A Link Between Worlds. According to Nintendo - the game will be available for download from Thursday, Jan. 30, at 9 AM (PST) until Sunday, Feb. 2, at 11:59 PM (PST). This also marks the launch of A Link to the Past on the Wii U Virtual Console for a price of $7.99. This appears to be only for the United States - if you live in another area and can get this, let us know!

In a recent document surfacing from Nintendo's recent financial presentaion - it has been listed that Hyrule Warriors, the game that merges Zelda and Dynasty Warriors, is set for a 2014 release. The game is being published by Nintendo in Europe and the United States and Tecmo Koei Games in Japan. The Legend of Zelda Wii U - listed as The Legend of Zelda (temp) - is still TBD as to when the launch window may be; however, we should find out more information before or during this years E3 this June. We all know what happened on the Wind Waker timeline, with the flooding, then the boating, and three generations later, the new continent was discovered. Nintendo of America announced a Zeda-themed 3DS Card Case that holds 18 games for Club Nintendo. The reward is up for only 400 coins so head by and grab it today as the last time something similar came available - it sold out really quickly. The case comes with the Zelda-themed covers pictured above and should make for a great addition to anyones Zelda collection or as a gift for any Zelda fan out there.

Sakurai - on Miiverse - confirmed that Saria from Ocarina of Time 3D will appear in the new Super Smash Bros game for 3DS as a trophy. He also noted that both the 3DS and Wii U version will have different models for the trophies with the 3DS version being mainly from handhelds with the Wii U version being mainly from home consoles. We also know that Skull Kid will make an appearance as an assist trophy.

A Link BetweenWorlds recently launched in Japan back on December 26th, 2013 and has sense broke into the top selling software for December after only being for sell roughly 4 days. According to early numbers from Media Create - A Link Between Worlds sold 225,000 units in Japan after only 4 days. This should not come as a surprise to you as the game is fantastic. The game has been available in North America and Europe for quite some time and we have a walkthrough for those having troubles.

It is stated in Standardized Hylian lore that three divine goddesses descended upon our plane and bestowed upon it Structure, Life, and Wisdom. They came from the heavens and with their respective divine powers, they shaped the land upon which we now find ourselves residing. It's also their belief that when the goddesses left the Earth, they left behind a mystic power known as the triforce. The triforce was proof positive for the people of Hyrule that the goddesses existed, and they deemed each of the pieces of triforce be dedicated to each goddess, though according to this theory, the fact that there are three pieces as well as gods is seen as coincidence in scientific circles.

Sakurai recently posted the screenshot above to the Super Smash Bros Series community on Miiverse. The screenshot shows off Skull Kid - most famous for his appearance in Majora's Mask - but does not announce him as a new character. Instead, Skull Kid is a new Assist Trophy in the new Super Smash Bros game. The new Super Smash Bros game will launch with Wii U and 3DS versions; however, Skull Kid has only been mentioned for the Wii U version.

Nintendo will begin offering deals on select Zelda games - Legend of Zelda (3DS and Wii U), Zelda II (3DS and Wii U), and Link's Awakening DX (3DS) - on the Nintendo eShop starting on November 14, 2013 at 9:00 AM PT until November 21, 2013 at 8:59 AM PT. Legend of Zelda and Zelda II will both be priced at $3.49 while Link's Awakening DX will be priced at $3.99.

In the latest Nintendo Direct it was announced that A Link Between Worlds will have a StreetPass function that when activated will allow you to play other playerswho you StreetPass. You must create you own Shadow Link and give them 2 items for use during battles. After doing so the player can find others Shadow Links and choose to fight them. You will pick 2 items to go into battle with and upon winning - Link will recieve a Bounty full of rupees and even an occasional reward with the new award system depending on the items used during battle. So what do you think about the latest feature in A Link Between Worlds?

Our friend Hombre De Mundo has recently launched a Kickstarter to raise funds for an animated series entitled The Forgotten Pixels. They are trying to raise $60,000 in order to cover the cost of production such as music, animation, and various other things. They are offering several incentives of which many can be seen above. We posted the Nintendo UK version of this trailer recently and we now have the Nintendo of America version that can be seen above. This is the Launch trailer for A Link Between Worlds, which launches on November 22. One thing we would like to point out is (possible spoiler) that what appears to be Ganon shows up near the end of the trailer.

Nintendo UK recently showed off the trailer above in the latest Nintendo Direct. Other then showing off the StreetPass in A Link Between Worlds - it also shows that Witch Irene and how she can be called to transport Link around both Lorule and Hyrule (her Broom is used in Lorule from what we can see). The Zora's Flippers were also showed off and allows Link to swim just like in other Zelda games.

Spoiler: The video embedded above shows off the Lost Woods in A Link Between Worlds as well as one of the puzzles included in the area - a "Follow Me" type. Shortly after entering the Lost Woods - Link will encounter a gang of ghost with one of them telling him to follow him for the correct path through the woods. The gang wil then shuffle around trying to make you loose sight of the leader and then all go down different paths. Link must follow the leader in order to not get "lost" in the woods.

Spoiler: Are you wondering how hints work in A Link Between Worlds? Well, we now how a video from TheBitBlock that shows off just that. Once you "summon" the Hint Ghost - item needed is still unkown to us but you can see Link put on some glasses - then you simply have to pay him 1 Play Coin or however much is required in order to recieve the hint for the area where you are stuck. Using Play Coins as currency is a smart move as this limits the amount of hints one can use in a single day and makes the game unable to hold your hand as many people wanted. Game Informer has released the first review for A Link Between Worlds giving it a 10 out of 10. They praised the dungeons, item rental system, and other areas of the game. A quote can be found below...

I want to let the experience roll around in my brain for a while before I decide where it ranks among the best entries in the franchise, but I can say with confidence that it should be spoken in the same breath as A Link to the Past. In every way, A Link Between Worlds is exactly what you want out of a Zelda game.

You may remember when Miyamoto spoke about "getting to the point of fun more quickly" and how they wanted to make newer Zelda games like the old ones. Well, in A Link Between Worlds it only takes around 5 minutes to reach the first dungeon in the game, which is much faster then the long time it takes to do so in Skyward Sword. Reaching the first dungeon faster should be good news to many people so be sure to let us know what you think in the comments.

Spoiler: As seen in the screenshot above - Rumor Guy from the upcoming A Link Between Worlds likes to spread all of the latest gossip around town. One piece of gossip being spread is that "someone" is following the "princess" around every night. Could this person be Yuga or maybe it is someone else? Well, come November 22nd - the launch date in Europe and North America - we will find out the answer to this question.

In the new commercial for A Link Between Worlds seen above - there is what appears to be Blind the Thief from A Link to the Past at the very end. So does this new Blind the Thief have new abilities? Well, he is holding a sword and shield or so it appears. What do you think about this observation?

Smooth McGroove is back once again and this time - he performs the Overworld Theme from A Link to the Past. As usual - it is acapella and his cat makes an appearance. You can view it via the video embedded above.

We are now learning details about the Hero Mode in A Link Between Worlds such as enemies now doing quadruple (4x) the amount of damage they normally do. Hero Mode also features "something new" that we do not know about and it is said to take a good amount of time to complete. We will keep you updated as new details are available.

Nintendo has recently expanded their partnership with Norwegian Cruise Line to bring Wii U consoles to ships. Spoiler: The latest episode of GT.TV features Nintendo's Bill Trinen as he shows off some new aspects of a A Link Between Worlds such as the Fire Rod and the Ice Ruins. Upon upgrading the Fire Rod - you can "shoot" out larger and larger "Fire Tornadoes" toward the enemies that will "mow them down." The Fire Rod is used in the Ice Ruins to melt ice and unlock new areas. The Ice Ruins features elevators that the player uses to travel up and down between the floors. Bill Trinen also states that items can be upgraded more then once.

N1ntendo.nl has recently stated they have completed their review copy of A Link Between Worlds 100% in roughly 18.5 hours. This seems like a good amount of play time in my opinion; however, I am sure others will disagree. Let us know what you think below in the comments.

Spoiler: Something we already knew about A Link Between Worlds was the fact you can rent items; however, we did not have much information about how the buying of items would work. Well, according to Kotaku an item that cost 50 rupees to rent will cost 400 to buy - a price that is 8 times the rental price. So will each item follow the same ratio? We don't know for sure yet...

Being very reminiscent of A Link to the Past - the video above shows off Eastern Hyrule Fields from the upcoming A Link Between Worlds. It shows off very familiar territory to those who have played A Link to the Past.

Spoiler: As seen in the video above - the Tornado Rod is used in the House of Gales and makes Link hover into the air temporarily. This item is new to Zelda and unique to A Link Between Worlds so far. What are your opinions of the new item?

Spoiler: TheBitBlock has recently got their hands on some footage of a meeting with Yuga from A Link Between Worlds. Yuga is capturing who appears to be Hilda stating that "her grace" will by happy with the painting of Hilda. We reported about a Zelda LEGO set called "Iron Knuckle Encounter" that was close to reaching the 10,000 supporters needed on LEGO Cuusoo - well, that set has now reached over 10,000 supporters and entered the review stage of production. Nintendo recently released screenshots depicting a new mini-game in A Link Between Worlds called Octoball Derby. The mini-game is inspired by baseball and takes place in Lorule. One of the objectives in the game is to hit the ball in order to knock down Octoroc's. Link can win rupees and also pieces of heart from the Octoball Derby. You may have watched the recent gameplay trailer for A Link Between Worlds but did you notice that when you play a portion of the trailer in reverse the music becomes Hyrule Castle theme from A Link to the Past? We saw this happen with Skyward Sword and now with A Link Between Worlds.

Nintendo recently released the video you see above depicting the process behind making a sand castle that resembles Windfall Island from The Wind Waker HD. Check out the video above and let us know what you think in the comments.

Nintendo recently released the Music of Te Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds trailer that you can watch above. It includes severals themes such as Hilda's, Ravio's, and Yuga's. One thing you will notice is that there is gameplay footage of a battle with Yuga in the trailer. Check it out above.

Best Buy Canada is offering the A Link Between Worlds Treasure Chest as a preorder bonus when you purchase the game from their online site. The preorder is online only so be sure to purchase it at their website if you want the chest.

In a recent GamesTM interview - Aonuma spoke about the art styles in future Zelda games saying, "we will be bit more careful in the future" and that "if [they] find a new aproach" that both developers and users would enjoy that they "will want to break new ground again." The new mystery item in A Link Between Worlds that is pictured above has been revealed as a "Sand Rod" according to the file properties of the official picture from the European Press assets. Similar file properties for other items reveal their usage such as the Sword, Shield, and both the Fire and Ice Rods. Seeing as the properties properly name and depict the other items then that leads us to believe the same is true for the Sand Rod as well. We recently reported about Aonuma's statement regarding cut dungeons from The Wind Waker and now we have another statement from the IGN interview regarding the Space World 2000 Zelda GCN trailer that revealed an Ocarina of Time inspired art style and Aonuma's opinion on it. He said, "No, this isn't Zelda," and that he thought it "was more like a continuation of the previous version." IGN recently sat down with Eiji Aonuma to discuss The Wind Waker HD and the changes they made compared to the original. Have you been wondering how large the A Link Between Worlds digital version will be? Well, we now have word that it will take up roughly 685MB (5482 blocks) on you 3DS or SD card. The game is set to launch on November 22 in both Europe and North America so be sure to check back for our A Link Between Worlds Walkthrough.

It has now been confirmed that the Limited Edition A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL will be heading to Japan just like the UK, Australia, Greece, and likely North America as well. Nintendo UK recently posted to Twitter a look at the reversible cover for the packaged version of A Link Between Worlds that will launch in Europe. The reversible covers for Nintendo games usually do not appear on games released in North America so we can only assume A Link Between Worlds will be the same - no reversible cover for those in the states.

The Limited Edition A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL has sold out on Amazon Germany. The console is set for release in Europe as well as Australia so far. It is likely to come to North America as well but we have no official confirmation at this time.

It is now know that the A Link Between Worlds Chest will be coming to Australia via EB Games. The chest plays the iconic chest music from the Zelda games. Word on an American version has not been given. We will keep you updated about it.

Shacknews recently sat down with Eiji Aonuma - the Zelda producer - to discuss A Link Between Worlds and one of the questions that asked was how important collecting rupees would be in the new 3DS installment. "Collecting rupees have always been a big part of Zelda games," explains Aonuma - "but there was always a point in Zelda games where even if you collect rupees, there wasn't that much left to do with them." Update 10/16/2014: GAME has now stated they are not offering the preorder bonus that Nintendo UK announced; however, they are in discussions about offering something but nothing is final yet. Hylian Heroics - an Australian made Zelda webseries - has been finally seen an update, which can be viewed above. The webseries features a lot of well made costumes and sound effects. Nintendo recently released new A Link Between Worlds screenshots after the most recent Nintendo Direct. The screenshots included one that looked so very similar to the E3 2013 screenshot that many may have overlooked the differences. As you can see in the screenshot dated for October 1 above - there are several changes that have been made in just a few months including the addition of the Bird statue, the scarecrow, and the removal of several pots. In a recent interview, Eiji Aonuma explained the importance of A Link to the Past for him and its influence on the sequel - A Link Between Worlds. You can read the full quotes from Aonuma below.

"A Link To The Past was the game that taught me the vast potential of games during the time I was still new to Nintendo...so this game has a rather special place in my heart and I was never able to imagine that I would be working on a sequel for it now.

We will be using arrangements of music from A Link To The Past, since this is a sequel to that game, and we are also trying to make the music sound like it's played on real instruments. People who know the original will definitely be able to tell and be happy about it, while newcomers will also be able to enjoy it."

Earlier we reported that you can rent items in A Link Between Worlds but no details were provided; however, we now have word from Aonuma on Miiverse with a few more details. Eiji Aonuma has stated that Ravio - the Shop Keeper - only has 1 of each item in stock and that by selling them he will go bust. Well, Ravio priced the items very high and Link can not afford them and continue his quest so Ravio starts renting items at a more affordable price. The rental period for each item is unlimited but if Link dies - then the items are taken back to the Item Shop where you have to rent them again. Later in the game you will eventually be able to purchase the items and will no longer run the risk of loosing them.

Nintendo released new screenshots for A Link Between Worlds today that included the one seen above - which just so happens to be the Overworld Map. Now we have known that the overworld map is very similar to that of A Link to the Past but we are still unsure how much has changed. A Link Between Worlds releases this November 22 and then we will know for sure just how much has changed from one game to the other.

In the latest Nintendo Direct, we learned more about the Item Shop from A Link Between Worlds. The player is able to purchase most of the essential items in the game at the Item Shop early in the game which will allow for the order one enters the dungeons to become non-linear depending on which items the player purchases or rents. Nintendo also sent out a PR e-mail that contained a few details such as the character that runs the Item Shop being named Ravio.

The Wind Waker HD Limited Edition with the Ganondorf figurine - a GameStop exclusive - appears to be sold out online and in-store according a recent trip I took down to my local GameStop. This report is for North America - United States primarily - as we have no word from Europe regarding the situation over there; however, the game appears to still be available at GAME, who has exclusivity in Europe. The Limited Edition bundle seems to have become quite a collectors item already and I can not wait to get mine when the game launches on October 4.

We recently launched our Wind Waker HD walkthrough with parts for Outset Island and Forsaken Fortress and have now added parts for Windfall Island and Dragoon Roost Island. A project on LEGO Cuusoo was inspired by the Legend of Zelda as seen in the image above. As reported earlier this month - the GameStop Exclusive Limited Edition The Wind Waker HD with the Ganondorf figurine was sold out online and at stores. Just today - however, they have become available once more to preorder for those who did not get the chance the first go around. The game appears available online only for the time being as our local GameStops were no longer taking preorders.

Earlier today it was confirmed that Toon Link from The Wind Waker HD would be appearing in the new Super Smash Bros games for the Wii U and 3DS. The official Super Smash Bros site is host to several screenshots of Toon Link from the games. Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS are due out in 2014.

This bundle is not selling out as fast as the Wind Waker Limited Edition did likely due to several retailers limiting customers to only purchasing one. MTV recently interviewed Eiji Aonuma concerning the CD-i Zelda games. When questioned where they fit into the Zelda timeline, Aonuma replied by saying, "I don't know that those really fit in the 'Zelda' franchise." So now we know that Nintendo likely will not mention the CD-i games again as even the developers do not think they fit into the Zelda history.

UK retailer ShopTo is offering the keyring pictured above as a preorder bonus for The Wind Waker HD. The keyring features the Wind Waker HD boxart with the Nintendo logo on the back. For those in the UK - the game is set to launch Oct 4 and for all those in America - you can get the Digital version Sept 20 or the Packaged version Oct 4.

The Nintendo World Store in New York announced earlier they will begin selling The Wind Waker HD on October 3 at 8PM. They are even going to have 200 Limited Edition bundles that include the Ganondorf figurine up for sell. This is happening mere hours before the official street date for the packaged version that is October 4.

In a recent Iwata Asks interview we learned how Toon Link was born. Back before The Wind Waker's art-style was shown off the team was trying to come up with a way to make the art-style so that they could come up with new ideas because creating another game in the style of Ocarina of Time would have limited them due to having the same staff members working on the title. Then one day Haruhana-san showed the team the Toon Link sketch seen above and the other members started working on sketches on the same style, which went on to be the art-style for The Wind Waker.
